For the hostess:

Give the gift of reading

Ask guests to bring their favorite book as a child to give to the mommy-to-be. Not only will this create nostalgic conversation, but baby will have a library of quality books.

Creative Displays

Serve drinks (cans of soda or juice) in a baby bathtub filled with ice. Not only does this create a cute display, but mommy now has a new bathtub for baby when the shower is over.

“Usable” Favors

Instead of giving guests a plastic baby with ribbon as a memento of the shower, give “usable” favors. Here are some great examples:

• Bath Beads
• Candles
Tea bag favors
• Clothing sachets
• Candy wrappers
• “Baby’s Breath” seed packets

Games:

Baby Memory

Collect as many small baby items as you can think of. For example, cotton balls, pacifier, nasal aspirator, baby Tylenol, rubber ducky, bib, booties, mittens, nail clippers, baby lotion, wipes, teething toy, bottle, rattle. Place all items in a baby bathtub and cover with a baby blanket. Uncover tub and allow guests to study it for 30 seconds then recover the tub. Have each guest try to list as many items as they can remember on a sheet of paper. The guests who remembers the most items wins the game. After game is complete, present the mommy-to-be with the bathtub full of gifts.

Baby Alphabet Game

Have guests write down a word for each letter of the alphabet. The catch? Words have to be related to pregnancy or babies. Give guests 1 minute to list as many as they can. The guest with the most wins.

Guess My Belly Size

Have mommy-to-be stand in front of guests. Have each guest try to estimate circumference of mommy’s belly using toilet paper. Each guest will tear off appropriate number of squares they think will fit around mom. Have each guest come up to mom and “test out” their toilet paper measurement. The one closest to mom’s actual size wins.

Who Has the Dirty Diaper

This is more of a door prize type of game. Give guests a diaper pin to wear as they arrive at the shower and warn them that their diaper might be “soiled.” After everyone has arrived and are wearing their pins, ask them to undo their diaper. Whoever has the “soiled” diaper wins! A great prize for this game is a candle or some air freshener.
